How Ties works

How do reminders work?

Every person has a rhythm, such as every 30 days. A rhythm set on the person comes first. Otherwise the shortest rhythm of their categories applies, and then your default in Settings. The clock starts at the last interaction you logged (or the day you added them), so a quick log from the chat icon on a contact card resets it.

What does the Reminders tab show?

Now lists what is due today or overdue, and Next 30 days shows what is coming, day by day. You will find follow-ups, birthdays (children included), yearly memories and people you want to stay in touch with. Those last ones appear only 7 days ahead, so the list stays calm.

How do follow-ups work?

A follow-up is a one-time reminder for one person, like “ask about the new job” next week or just sometime in March. Add or edit them in the Follow-ups section of a profile, and swipe right in the Reminders tab to snooze one. When you mark one done it moves to Notes & history. Its notification offers Done and Tomorrow.

When do notifications arrive?

Ties checks once a day at the time you pick in Settings, and a second time if you turn that on. It tells you about people who are due, birthdays (the day before and on the day), follow-ups and yearly memories; a child’s birthday only if you turned that on for the child. Android picks the exact minute, so a small delay is normal.

What can I keep about a person?

Notes, gift ideas and activity ideas, each in its own list under Notes & history. Memories hold a date, up to three photos and, if you like, a yearly reminder. Children get their own rows with birthday and a note, added from the menu on the profile.

Voice notes, screenshots and summaries

On Android you can speak a note, or share a screenshot of a chat and Ties turns its text into a note. Phones that support it can also summarize a note. All of this runs on your phone; your words and images are not uploaded. The first 10 summaries are free, after that they are part of Ties Pro.

Is my data private?

Your contacts and notes stay on this phone in an encrypted database. There is no account and no Ties server. Two technical things leave the phone: RevenueCat checks whether you have Pro, and Google’s ML Kit, used for screenshots and summaries, sends diagnostics such as device model and error codes. Neither contains your contacts, notes or text.

How do backups work?

Backups are files on this phone, photos included. They disappear if you uninstall Ties or lose the phone, so export a copy now and then and keep it somewhere else you trust, because the export is not encrypted. Before a restore replaces your data, Ties saves a safety copy of what is there.

How do I move Ties to a new phone?

Ties opts out of Android’s cloud backup and device transfer, so nothing is copied to a new phone automatically. Export your data on the old phone, move the file to the new phone yourself, and restore it there.

What does Ties Pro add?

Ties is free for up to 15 contacts. Pro adds unlimited contacts, automatic daily backups on this phone and unlimited summaries where your phone supports them. You can buy it once (Lifetime) or subscribe yearly or monthly. Restore purchases is on the Pro screen.

Why don’t I see some features?

Voice notes, screenshots and summaries depend on what your phone can do on its own. Voice notes need offline speech recognition, which Ties can offer to download, and summaries need an on-device model (Settings shows whether this phone has one). Where a phone cannot do something, Ties hides it instead of showing a button that fails.

How do I delete my data?

All data is stored on your phone, so uninstalling Ties deletes it, including its backups. Files you exported yourself can be deleted wherever you saved them. There is nothing to delete on our side, because we do not store anything.
